Life Springs Forth
(An International Collaborative Activity)
Grade 6 learners led an inspiring international collaboration with St. Cedds School, UK, to explore the lives of endangered species. This activity was packed with engaging experiences. The learners began with intensive research and had a session with the Director of Forestry Services, Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, gaining insights into conservation efforts. They visited a botanical garden to observe various species and used their creativity to make drawings, fliers, and paper-mâché models of endangered animals like sea turtles and pangolins using recycled materials such as waste paper and used plastic spoons.
The activity culminated in an assembly presentation, during which learners showcased their work through drama and creative displays. Additionally, they participated in a Connecting Classroom session with learners from St. Cedds School, during which they exchanged knowledge about local endangered species and learned about hedgehogs in the UK. This collaborative experience emphasized environmental awareness, fostered creativity, and celebrated global connections, inspiring the students to take action for the preservation of wildlife.
