Reaccreditation of our International School Award
SCIS is excited to register her application for the reaccreditation of the British Council International School Award. This recognition, awarded by the British Council, is a badge of honour for schools that demonstrate a year-long commitment to activities fostering an international dimension in education. It celebrates the efforts of schools to raise young people with cultural understanding and the essential skills needed to live and work as global citizens.
This school year, we are working on the following project topics:
- Trash to Treasure
- Building the Community
- Life Springs Forth
- Farm Fresh Magic
- Sighting Signs and Catching Sounds
- My Daily Routine (Ma Journée Quotidienne)
- Cherished Rhythms
- Market Adventures
These activities are designed to provide opportunities for learners and teachers to learn, share learning experiences, and collaborate to address global issues. Through these efforts, SCIS continues to equip her learners with the core skills required to thrive in a competitive and interconnected world, while deepening their awareness of our shared and interdependent global community.
Farm Fresh Magic
In the Farm Fresh Magic activity, learners embarked on an exciting journey to explore the transformation of farm crops into consumables. In their research, they explored and gained deep insights into various uses of the following produce:
- Maize
- Plantain
- Cocoa
- Coconut
- Palm Fruit
They engaged with food processors, discovering the intricate steps from raw harvest to final product. A visit to a food processing company provided a real-world perspective, and the experience peaked as they processed and packaged their food products which they called SCIS Amazing Foods.
This immersive activity enhanced their understanding of food production and sparked curiosity about the vital roles of Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, and Mathematics in daily life.
