Building The Community

(A Local Collaborative Activity)

Grades one and three learners collaborated with their peers from Isheri Primary School in an activity centered on understanding what makes a community and the role of responsible citizens in building one. Through research and presentations, the learners shared their findings on community values and responsibilities with their colleagues and counterparts. They also created colorful scrapbooks documenting the contributions of citizens to community development.

The activity included a session led by a representative of the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA chairman, who inspired the learners with insights on the importance of community building. Beyond discussions, the students took practical steps to improve their local community. They carried out volunteer service by educating road users on the proper use of the Zebra crossing and cleaning Olowora and Isheri markets, as well as the Isheri community. Additionally, the school played a vital role in renovating the borehole and toilets at Isheri Primary School, ensuring access to clean water and sanitation. Thereby, enriching the learning environment and offering the learners a better opportunity for academic success.

These activities instilled a deep sense of civic responsibility, compassion, and teamwork in the learners while fostering stronger community ties and creating a lasting impact on their local environment.
